BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL 1950’s BESPOKE OFF WHITE PALE CREAM SILK SATIN WEDDING DRESS MATCHING BOLERO UK Size 8/10, US Size 4/6. HAND MADE. Asymmetric Hem. Wedding Bride Bridal.
Circa 1950’s
A beautiful, original vintage, bespoke wedding dress, hand-made in gorgeous off white/pale cream silk satin brocade, with full skirt and silk taffeta full underskirt. There is scalloped edging to the front and a pretty asymmetric hemline, which is topped off with a large bow. The dress is very flattering on and looks even prettier in real life than on the model. It would have been made by a seamstress, as a ‘one off’ piece. Most of the seams are French and there is also quite a bit of hand sewing. You just wouldn’t find anything like this nowadays, or if you did – it would cost an absolute fortune!
There are a couple of very light marks and a couple of spot marks on the petticoat (please see last two photos). This is to be expected with an older piece, but you don’t even notice it with all the ruffles and folds of fabric and there is nothing which detracts from its immense charm. The dress has been in storage for a long time and would probably benefit from a clean before wearing anyway. It is a FABULOIUS piece in Wonderful Condition for its age.
