An adorable French Antique Art Nouveau sterling silver bow brooch, set with sparkling marcasites. These bow brooches have been made throughout the ages and this is an early example. All the stones are present and they are fabulously sparkly. It is a very well made piece. A beautiful, understated, flowing design, which is typical of the Art Nouveau period and is both elegant and stylish. Stamped ‘Sterling Silver’ on the reverse, along with the Maker’s Mark in a diamond lozenge, and another mark. The silver has a lovely dark aged patina. I am sure it would polish up, but it looks beautiful and authentic as it is, so I will leave it to the buyer to do as they wish.
The brooch fastens with an early trombone clasp, which is working well.
Looks stunning whenever the marcasites catch the light!
