An absolutely breathtaking vintage Art Deco Revival chunky gold satin beads and clear pools of light lustre beads necklace. The golden beads are large and chunky and made of hollow metal, they have a lovely satin finish, which provides a fantastic contrast to the glass beads. The ‘pools of light’ glass beads have this wonderful rainbow lustre aurora borealis finish – they are highly unusual, being smooth and round, rather than faceted. They also differ very slightly in shape and size – which is a clear indication that they are hand-made. They flash wonderful pastel rainbow colours when they catch the light.
It really is such a stunning and unusual piece of jewellery – it reminds me of Christmas tree baubles. The necklace fastens with a screw barrel clasp. The beads were threaded on the original cat-gut/nylon thread, which unfortunately broke whilst it was being handled (this can sometimes happen when the old string becomes brittle and fragile). Since then, the necklace has been professionally re-threaded, exactly as it was. Those of us who have had a necklace professionally re-threaded will know that it is very costly – so this represents excellent value for money. The necklace is now raring to go and just begging to be shown off!
