A Rare and Unusual Antique Art Deco Bohemian Czech Uranium ‘carved’ pressed glass ‘End of the Day’ beads necklace, in gorgeous muted colours. The beads were hand-made in the Art Deco period, by craftsmen, in the old Kingdom of Bohemia. They have a lovely semi-matt quality, with vibrant swirls and stripes. The beads fluoresce under UV light, due to the trace uranium content (which is totally harmless).
The necklace wasn’t originally hanging well, so it has just been professionally re-threaded, just as it was, with the addition of uranium glass spacer beads. These spacer beads really improve the necklace and add to its individuality, also the necklace now hangs beautifully and is more fluid. It also now gives an even more spectacular display under UV light. It fastens with the original bolt ring clasp and is long enough to be worn doubled up. Those of us who have had a necklace professionally re-threaded will know that it is very costly – so this represents excellent value for money.
