A wonderful antique tin, with a Georgian lady seated at the harpsichord, in conversation with a gentleman, who appears to be giving her a set of jewels. In lovely pastel shades. Inside the tin, the lettering is still nice and crisp; it reads ‘The Court Toilet Box containing Crescent Hair Pins’. There are three compartments, but sadly no hair pins. The tin is gilded both inside and out and is still nice and shiny, despite visible signs of abrasion, scratches, patina and rust, commensurate with age and use, but I think this just adds to its immense charm.
The tin is surprisingly heavy. Weight: 105g
