A spectacular and very rare antique Georgian Halley’s Comet brooch, hand-crafted with huge faceted genuine rock crystals and a beautiful dropper tail, on a pinchbeck frame. The brooch is truly mesmerising whenever it catches the light. Whilst I’ve attempted to capture its allure in the photographs, conveying its true radiance in natural light proves to be a challenge. When viewed in real life, it surpasses the photographs, boasting an exquisite and breathtaking beauty. Furthermore, its weight adds to its substantial presence, making it even more remarkable.
The brooch fastens with an early C catch. The elongated pin extends well beyond the frame. Elongated pins are often found on larger brooches from the Georgian period, and were made to go through the thicker fabrics of the day.
