A beautiful and very elegant 1940’s flower basket, jardiniere brooch, by French Designer ‘PLAIRE’. A very rare and unusual piece. The brooch is heavily gold plated and studded with diamond paste rhinestone flowers. All of the stones are present and sparkling. The basket itself is covered in lush black suede. The brooch is still lovely clean and shiny – even after all these years!
It fastens with a trombone clasp on the reverse, which is working well. Signed ‘Plaire, Made in France’. Plaire pieces are highly collectable and rarely come up for sale. Whilst conducting my research, I have come across just a couple of the artist palette brooches for sale, plus one or two others, but I have never seen another remotely like this one, which leads me to believe it is extremely rare.
